4 in 1 Safari + Waterfall + Volcano + Eco Termales
With this 4in1 combo tour you will be able to experience in the easiest way, without having to rush through the day, 4 of the travellers favorite places such as the river, the waterfall, the volcano and hot springs, who knew you could do it all in a day?
The Arenal area is so beautiful and offers so many amazing adventures and places to explore but we know that not all travelers have enough time to go through all of what they want, that is why we were able to come up with this terrific combo that helps you not only visit the most amazing highlights of Arenal in one day but also is wallet friendly!
The day will start early, right after breakfast where you will meet our friendly guide at the lobby of your hotel and will drive you to the first destination, Peñas Blancas River to get started on the Safari Float. This is an adventure for everybody, from the little ones to the oldies, it does not require any physical condition since you will be sitting on a raft while it goes smoothly flowing down the river while the guide teaches you about the rainforest (where you will be at) and will point out at so many wonderful animals that can be seen as well as wonderful trees, flowers, lizards and birds. In the middle of the way you will stop at a nice side of the river to have some sweet snacks, water and tropical fruits of the season.
The journey has just begun and you will want more! This time we will be heading towards the amazing La Fortuna Waterfall which is a tall, 75 meters (240 ft) fall right in the middle of a canyon in the rainforest, this is an amazing experience that you cannot miss, you can walk down to the waterfall for about 20 minutes and 500 stairs and get to jump in the water, get this amazing feeling that comes when you are so close to nature, swim and take amazing photos!
500 stairs may sound intimidating, but is not like that, the trails are really well made and you can go slowly, at your own pace while admiring the nature around you, or if can’t make it all the way down because of a hip or a knee problem you can remain upstairs and stay at the observatory point so you can watch the waterfall from above, enjoy the facilities, bathrooms, restaurant and wait for the rest of the group.
It's about noon and we are ready to take you to a beautiful family ranch in the surrounding of the river to have a tasteful lunch! La Familia Rodriguez will greet you and invite you to have a meal that you will not forget, a very traditional taste of our culture, always in the company of nature while making new friends, seeing animals and having a nice cup of coffee too!
It was a deserved, relaxed, different lunch experience and now is time to head towards one of the most beautiful trails of the magnificent Arenal Volcano, Pay close attention to your guide, he will tell you all about the volcano history, the explosions it used to make, all about the recovery of the town and how the rainforest became part of it, open your eyes and ears, it is very likely that you find some animals on the way as well. This is not a strenuous hike, it takes about 2.5 hours to complete but it also goes at a slow pace as needed so you can get the feeling of what is like to be around the volcano and seeing its fascinating perfect cone shape from so close and all that it means to the Costa Rican nature.
The sun almost sets now and we know what is just the perfect way to end this perfect day… let’s go and relax with the magic of the natural hot springs pools of Eco Termales! Here you will have time to explore the beautiful, secluded gardens and go through the pools while a river of hot water flows between them, have a drink or two and get ready to taste a really nice dinner before heading back to the hotel.

Our driver miner and William were also very good. Everyone went above and beyond to make sure we had an enjoyable experience. Thank-you

Also snacks like fruits and water are provided along the day and a deserving dinner will be provided at Eco Termales after bathing and relaxing.
Can kids go on the tours?
Sure they can! Everyone can have a great time at the safari float, the waterfall, the surrounding of the volcano national park and the hot springs, although we believe is more enjoyable for kids 4 years old and over. It may seem like a long day but is not so strenuous, hikes are easy to moderate and there is time to rest in between each activity. Is the perfect combination of you don't have much time in the Arenal area or wish to do as much as possible.
What clothing and shoes should wear?
Hiking shoes or sneakers will be ideal for the hikes as well as comfortable clothes: shorts, t-shirts, tank tops. A change of shoes and clothes may be also required if you plan to go for a swim to the refreshing waterfall and the thermal pools. Don't forget a bathing suit, there will be changing rooms before starting the hike down to the waterfall if needed or after the hike and at Eco Termales. Bring also mosquito repellent, sunscreen and a raincoat in case of an usual rainshower.
Should bring a camera or phone?
Sure, keep in mind it will be under your supervision and we highly recommend a waterproof case.
Is a good physical condition required?
Not entirely, the walk at the volcano is not though, there are different trails that can be explored and go from 2 km up to 3 km (1.2 - 2 miles). Pace is slowed since you will be with a guide giving you information about the volcano, the birds and wildlife found on the way and time to take nice pictures. Based on the trail chosen a little elevation will be required. The guide will choose with the group the right option. The hike to the waterfall though is a hike down on steep stairs, 520 stairs to be precise and then back up. Is worth the adventure, kids and people of all ages can do it. You can make it slowly at your own pace and enjoy the views, usually takes 20 minutes on the way down and 25 on the way up. We do not recommend the visit to the waterfall to the ones with hip or knee problems, but if you have any of these conditions and wish to be part of the tour you can remain at the main facilities of the waterfall park where there is an observatory, restrooms and a nice restaurant so you can enjoy of a drink or two. And on the safari you will be seated on a nice raft while at the safari float trying to see and learn as much as possible of the rainforest and its animals.
What happens if rains?
If a shower or rain happens before or during the tour, it continues as planned, remember is the rainforest and it should be expected. Unless there is a tropical storm in sight then the tour may be cancelled or postponed but we will contact you in advance to inform you.
Is transportation offered from other destinations?
Yes, we offer pick up and drop off to most destinations in the country, please contact us to coordinate it and quote the extra fee.
What is the cancellation policy?
We are very accessible, with a 24 hour notice you can get a refund, just don't forget to notify us.
What's the weather like in Arenal?
We have in Arenal tropical weather, it means is usually hot and humid with some rain always on the sight, not heavy rain, usually sun showers towards the end of the afternoon or late evenings. During the months of January, February, March which are considered to be summer, temperature goes between 28°-32° Celsius or 82-90 Fahrenheit and during the rainy season it varies from 22°-28° centigrades or 71-82 Fahrenheit.
Can I climb to Arenal Crater? Why not?
Climbing the Arenal Volcano up to its crater is not allowed, there are only a few trails mostly around the base of the volcano with a little altitude that can be explored, these trails show a combination of rainforest, wildlife, the last footprints of the lava that used to flow and incredible views. That is the closest as someone can get. Some trails will have views of the valley and the Arenal lake. The Arenal Volcano, although has not throwed lava for the last 8 years is still considered active, every once in awhile you can witness the fumaroles coming out of the summit. The terrain is not welcoming for people, on one side there is much forest with wildlife like wildcats, snakes and many wild animals and on the other side is sandy and rocky and unstable.
Is the volcano active?
Yes, it is considered one of the active volcanoes of the country. In 2010 was the last time it throwed lava but it is still active, we can usually observe the fumaroles from its main crater and the rivers are still hot, hence the hot springs.
What is the difference in the hot springs?
