The Monteverde Cloud Forest Reserve was founded in 1972, it is a private reserve that belongs to a research, non profitable ONG whose main purpose is to protect the world’s famous cloud forest, its unique flora and many species of animals that find their home here. The reserve has over 10500 hectares of territory of tropical jungle in which 90% of it remains as a virgin forest.
The Monteverde Cloud Forest Reserve offers to scientists as well as tourists a high biodiversity which consists of over 2500 species of plants including the most orchids species in one place, over 100 species of mammals, 400 species of birds (both migratory and permanent), 120 species of reptiles and amphibians and thousands of insects.
This pristine jungle often shrouded in clouds has many different trails to choose from, some a little longer than others and will offer different scenarios, some trails are more dense than others, some have more clear spaces which is ideal to bird watch (which is one of the main reasons why visitors come to this reserve), one can take you to a natural waterfall or to witness the continental division that can be seen from the highest point.
To make of this an even better experience you can add for an extra fee the visit to the sustainable farm El Rancho de Lelo and taste a delicious organic lunch where everything is produced and grown right at the farm, you can walk around and see the farm animals, interact with cows, pigs, chickens, see tilapia ponds, a coffee plantation, learn about how to be auto sufficient and get a peaceful meal surrounded by the mountains and rivers and beautiful landscapes.

Our local guide will be waiting for you at the lobby of the hotel, be ready at the time that will be provided with the email confirmation we will send you. The exact time varies depending on the location of your hotel.
8:00 am for morning tour or 1:30 pm for afternoon tour (approximate times) Get ready for a nice hike in nature!
The hike will take approximately two and a half hours to complete, our professional guide will bring the equipment needed for a nice experience in the cloud forest, binoculars, telescope, camera, etc in order to better spot amazing animals and take some great pics too. If you have your own equipment feel free to bring it along with a waterproof case.
9:30 am for morning tour or 2:45 pm for afternoon tour (approximate times) Time for a recess
A nice place will be reached, ideal for a stop to admire the nature around you and will give you some minutes to drink water and fresh fruits that the guide will provide. Always keep an eye on the surroundings, we never know what animals will come to greet you.

After we finish a nice walk on the famous Monteverde Cloud Forest trails we will head to the exit and the van will drive you back to your hotel, the guide will say goodbye hoping you had the nicest time!

Curi Cancha is also known as a Bird Watchers Paradise because it offers easier trails to see and hear them! This is a smaller reserve compared to others in the area but offers a wide variety of nature and don't worry about the trails being crowded the reserve has a policy of a maximum of 50 people at one time at the park which makes it even more appealing, less people means higher changes to spot wildlife.
